Marian M @Marianatthemovies Feb 2 PBS aired this movie this week. I enjoyed the movie very much. The beautiful simplicity, the acting, the filming, the sets. Its everyday life in a different country. Loved it. I was disappointed in the ending though. I had questions that weren't resolved. That was unfulfilling. Did Herman and Marta have sex that night in the hotel when she went to his room? Is that why Herman later acted awkwardly by her? Did she tell Herman that she and Jacobo were not married? Who was the person that kept calling that Jacobo said was a wrong number? Why did Jacobo look at the young woman in the hotel restaurant the way he did? After investing 99 minutes in this movie I was left unfulfilled at the end. Also I did not view this as a comedy. It was more like unadorned life. O estilo de "gente como a gente", cativa, o título que não tem o significado em si, mas apenas a expressão utilizada em mera duas cenas, o clima de estranhamento, sugerido no ar, que geram um certo constrangimento em quem assiste, na verdade, ponto alto do filme, simbolizada em diversas passagens principalmente quando trio atua. It could have - and should have - been edited down to about 20 minutes; and even then it would have likely just been mediocre. Quite possibly the only piece of film cut from this movie was a 90-second shot of a secondary character brushing their teeth. And I really wanted to like it too.
