Scarlett Johnasson does a great job playing an alien disguising itself as a beautiful woman to lure men to their doom in Scotland. It's really impressive how much of the movie was shot with hidden cameras with real bystanders in Scotland and it really adds to the realism. I loved the gorgeous eerie hypnotic & surreal cinematography, imagery, and sound design. I loved the creepy organic soundtrack. It's intriguing watching this alien skin walker exploring the human condition with her new identity crisis. The film is full of quiet visual storytelling with many scenes in the stillness of nature. The atmospheric slow burn is mostly great, but sometimes the pacing can drag a little in the middle. It's a daring original film that subverts and deconstructing the male gaze and what true power really looks like for gender dynamics on the modern world. Jonathan Glazer turns roads, rain, dark spaces and ordinary human encounters into something alien, while Mica Levi's abrasive score makes even simple moments feel threatening. Scarlett Johansson is extraordinary precisely because she does so little: tiny changes in her expression gradually transform a cold, predatory presence into something more curious and fragile. The film's slow pace and minimal narrative can be frustrating, and viewers who need clear explanations may find it empty or pretentious. For me, that ambiguity is exactly what makes it powerful. The less it explains its mythology, the stranger and sadder it becomes. A beautiful, disturbing film about looking at humanity from the outside and discovering that becoming closer to it also means becoming vulnerable.
