A heroic loner takes on a group of nuclear terrorists in this seagoing tale. Posing as a rock band, the terrorists get themselves hired for a party aboard the USS Missouri, a battleship en route to Pearl Harbor for decommissioning. They plan to steal the ship's nuclear arsenal but haven't reckoned on the intervention of the ship's chef, a decorated former Navy SEAL.

Set aboard a hijacked battleship, the film makes smart use of its contained setting to build tension while delivering solid, hard-hitting action. Seagal is at his peak as Casey Ryback, playing the role with restraint and control that makes him a believable hero. The fight scenes are efficient and brutal, emphasizing skill over flash and keeping the action grounded. The real standout is Tommy Lee Jones as Strannix, who brings wild energy, dark humor, and unpredictability to the role. Gary Busey complements him well as a memorable villain. Director Andrew Davis keeps the pacing tight and the action clear, balancing suspense with explosive moments. Overall, Under Siege remains a sharp, entertaining thriller. Say what you will about Steven Seagal now, but in the late ’80s and ’90s, he was the king of martial-arts action.
