07/25/2022 This is the absolute BEST musical about making a musical to ever exist! A musical within a musical that is also a movie... you couldn't ask for more from a movie as an arts lover! But Triple Threat still gives you more! All of the representation in this movie is casual, non-preachy, but still present in every frame - Triple Threat allows queer people to just exist in its space in a way I truly have never seen done before. The women in this movie are also such strong, complex human beings who have the right to make choices, whether they end up being the right choices or not - these women are sure of themselves and sure of what they want in a way that is absolutely beautiful to see on screen. This is absolutely THE feel-good movie of the summer and I can't wait to watch it again! See more 07/20/2022 While it's a much needed film about chosen family and choice in a time when reproductive choices are being restricted in this country, Triple Threat's greatest strength is as a balancing act! In the wrong hands, the story could've been too heavy and preachy or gone in the other direction and been too twee and slight. With Stacey Maltin's sharp direction and a solid script by Maltin and Jay DeYonker, however, Triple Threat manages to balance all the ingredients to make for a fun, provocative and heartfelt story. It makes you think back to the younger version of yourself and reflect on what has changed and what hasn't in so many ways. I was amazed at every little twist and turn of the plot. The drama was palpable. The songs were excellent and stuck in my head for weeks afterward. The sets were expansive and detailed.
