Critics Consensus

The Wolf and the Lion's cuddly co-stars are undoubtedly adorable, but that only makes the movie's clunky human drama feel more like animal -- and audience -- cruelty.

A frustrating, dramatic and heavy-handed film. Go to Full Review Kimber Myers Los Angeles Times Feb 7, 2022
Watching 100 minutes of cute animals on your phone is preferable to sitting through the laughably bad Wolf and the Lion. Go to Full Review Nell Minow RogerEbert.com Feb 4, 2022

The Wolf and the Lion is a lot like the internet: about half aww-inspiring scenes of irresistibly cute animals and the other half dumb, boring human beings. Go to Full Review Peter Martin DallasFilmNow.com Jun 14, 2022
Heartfelt empathy for the plight of abused animals outweighs the flimsy, sometimes silly plot machinations. Molly Kunz and Graham Greene make for an appealing pair of heroes. Go to Full Review Joel Copling Spectrum Culture Mar 21, 2022
With a dull thud, the flat human story collides with the thin one about the cute animals. Go to Full Review Carla Hay Culture Mix Mar 6, 2022
Extremely vapid on every level, The Wolf and the Lion is a poorly made drama that irresponsibly advocates for untrained people to raise large wild animals, such as a wolf and a lion, inside their homes. Go to Full Review Read all reviews

See more Cynthia R Mar 2, 2022 This moving was beautiful visually inspiring full of love for family/friends/furbabies. Very milk profanity a couple times. No sexuality. Violence toward animals is IMPLIED, which I appreciated even as an adult. May be upsetting for children though....idea of animals being shot at. But the story unfolds beautifully, music is beautiful. Wish there were more movies like this. :) See more Sharleen Feb 23, 2022 Really enjoyed this movie! Heartwarming, I love movies about animals! Anyone would like this movie! See more Read all reviews
