Sami Malik, a young Indian, travels to America in the 1970s. He dreams of becoming an engineer to impress his childhood crush and live up to the legacy of his father, a legendary tiger hunter. When Sami's job falls through, he takes a low-end job and joins with a gang of oddball friends in hopes of convincing his childhood sweetheart that he's far more successful than he truly is -- or perhaps ever could be.

At a time when immigrants are seen as nothing more than human fodder for political warfare, the kindness of The Tiger Hunter and its celebration of immigrants and their difficult struggle into a new land is more than welcome.

THE TIGER HUNTER is a mild-mannered dramedy with many charms. The cultural fidelity brings these immigrant narratives to life, and presents the many fallacies of the American Dream without foreclosing on it entirely. The film is affecting without ever being abrasive, and aims for sweetness rather than deeper impact, which is both a weakness and a strength.

It was a good Bollywood movie overall that was entertaining, not hugely funny, but still an interesting story with a cast of people that I didn't know.

I saw it for Heder. It was a Bollywood production with some American flare. It was a sweet and happy movie, but not one I need to see again. It was on Netflix.
