Successfully mixing the conventions of the teen and horror genres with a twist, Australian director Sean Byrne makes a striking directorial debut with The Loved Ones.

Headed by [Jessica] McNamee as the spurned prom-bomb, [Sean] Byrne's debut feature defines "sick and wrong" in all the right ways.

Speaking of reusing old premises, The Loved Ones shows the right way to do it. In this outrageously creepy and entertaining.

It's a terrifying masterpiece that turns high school drama into a literal dead zone.

It's a frisky lil' thing, only 84 minutes long and packed with verve... and Robin McLeavy gives a gloriously unhinged turn as Lola.

A vicious and brutal reinvention of a familiar premise that teases a lot more from the minds behind the project, even if it never quite sticks the landing.

The Loved Ones is nasty, funny and memorable, and McLeavy’s performance alone makes it a must for horror fans.

I can't even imagine the mental Olympics and coping that people had to do to try to justify this abomination of a film. This is absolute garbage. This feels like a high School student's entry into their own independent film on their first foray ever. Acting is shit directing is shit production is shit the sound is shit. This movie is absolute garbage.

The film isn't bad, but ultimately it's the same old stuff. The actors are good, but some completely superfluous subplots and a predictable ending make it an enjoyable film, but nothing more.

I love Aussie movies. This should be a classic in the horror genre. It's Carrie on steroids. There was some absolutely brutal scenes in this movie. Damn that girl was pissed. Bro should have went to the Metallica concert instead.

It was a pretty fun watch, didn't even realize time had passed by so fast lol. It was the right amount of disturbing and entertaining enough for me not to get bored. It had some nice twists as well like i fully did not expect some scenes so it caught me off guard.
