Critics Consensus

A sly caper carried off with director Steven Soderbergh's characteristic panache, The Christophers is a superb two-hander featuring Ian McKellen and Michaela Coel at their very best.

The verbal parrying is pure delight, smart and sharp. It reflects a very deep understanding of the world of art, the people who create it and the complexities of maneuvering the world of critics, gallery owners, and wealthy collectors. Go to Full Review

Had The Christophers just been a cross-generational punch-up, the sort of flinty showdown designed to throw off pleasurable sparks, you’d still walk away content. It remains a conduit for two of the best performances you’ll see all year. Go to Full Review

Marc 4h touching, poignant, moving. my vote s for best actor, best actress. See more Jonathan Male 7h Fantastic… great story. Great acting See more John B 1d I cannot imagine how the critics called this no-doze affair a "witty" movie. It was dull, confusing, and ultimately pointless. The main character is an unpleasant dying artist, a role wasted on Ian McKellan, The actor who plays the forger is sometimes mildly interesting, but even she never elicits any sympathy. The ending is a mystery. An all-around terrible movie. I went, I saw, and I came away empty. See more Julie 1d Superb acting. I was pulled in by the characters.
