Critics Consensus

The 15:17 to Paris pays clumsily well-intentioned tribute to an act of heroism, but by casting the real-life individuals involved, director Clint Eastwood fatally derails his own efforts.

Mark Kermode Kermode & Mayo's Film Review Aug 28, 2018
It's a really, really unsatisfactory film, which is a shame because the story is quite an extraordinary one. Go to Full Review Michael Sragow Film Comment Magazine Mar 2, 2018
Clint Eastwood's The 15:17 to Paris takes a taut, engrossing, and surprising nonfiction book-the most complete and genuine account of an act of real-life heroism that enthralled the whole free world-and turns it into a flaccid, bewildering docudrama. It's the second section that's really dire: a flaccid travelogue in which the boys visit landmark tourist attractions...these scenes bring the film to a grinding halt from which it never recovers. Go to Full Review Denise Pieniazek Puesta en Escena (AR) Jan 12, 2024

15:17 to Paris, as in other Eastwood films, the war is present, as well as its inspiration in real events, it has several of the protagonists of the event that occurred in 2015 "acting" as themselves. Go to Full Review Keith Garlington Keith & the Movies Aug 20, 2022

Unfortunately Clint Eastwood’s finished product is a well-intended but surprisingly awkward misfire. Only the last 30 minutes felt like the tribute these three courageous young men deserved. Go to Full Review Fletcher Powell KMUW - Wichita Public Radio Jul 20, 2021
The fault lies entirely with the filmmakers, who fail to give these men a movie worthy of their extraordinary actions. Go to Full Review Read all reviews

Robert P @Superbad Sep 16, 2026 This Movie = a *2* star Film... See more Ben P @Basher Jul 20, 2026 Just one word: Appalling. The majority of successful actors have a passion for acting and train for at least 2 years to learn their craft. This film lacks both passion and craft. and a good screenplay. It’s cheesy, wooden and feels like a padded story to fill 90 minutes rather than tell a compelling story. Appalling. See more Lukasz S @momisntproud Jul 19, 2026 I’m currently watching this movie and it’s so painful I had to come here and write this. There’s 31 minutes left. Send help! Dios mío estuvo tan mala que tuve que ver los últimos 10 min de la película donde hay algo de acción para no sentirme tan estúpido de haber desperdiciado 1y30 de mi vida. See more Mike W @RT06826469 May 19, 2026 Clint really missed the mark on this one. The movie meandered from one genre to another, started as an action/terrorist movie, then a guys in the army story, then a documentary of the three guys going on an incredibly ordinary trip across Europe with mundane scenes of them ordering ice cream, dancing in clubs, and seeing the sights. No tension, no drama, nothing. Then - finally - at the very end it becomes an action film again for five minutes. Misleading marketing and packaging. Should have been a documentary no longer than an hour, and even that would have been boring. See more Read all reviews
