Critics Consensus

Step Up Revolution treads familiar territory by surrounding its lively and kinetic dance sequences with a predictably generic story.

Despite the fact that there are four choreographers listed on the IMDB credits, even a few of the routines felt flat.

One can't help but feel that if the franchise hasn't jumped the shark it's certainly stepping over a finned killer fish with abandon. Damn. We've been served.

The Step Up dance franchise steps up for a fourth time, unashamedly and unselfconsciously sticking to a tried and trusted formula, here transplanted to Miami.

What should have been a stylish and fun film is instead an exercise all too similar to those godawful 80's dance flicks.

Dance is a great and expressive art form, so why can't it be displayed in a great and expressive film?

There just wasn't enough of the blockrocking beats and big phat high octane dance numbers to offset the megadownload of cheese.

This movie is filled with just the same plot cliche's and the acting is not that great, and the story can be cheesy at points. I would however recommend purely watching this for the Choreography as to me that is 10/10 the dances were fantastic and shows the beauty of dance as an art form. I specifically love the flash mob in the museum as on om my favorites just behind the final dance of the movie.

The worldwide gross is $140,470,746.00 over a budget of $33,000,000.00. More than the production budget.
