God sci-fi movie without a lot long image gore. Great use of “mood” music. Really accurate depiction of USSR of the time. (I was there). I liked the overlay story.

We don’t mind subtitles and don’t need constant action so we found this intense, slow-paced Russian language sci-fi absorbing. It’s set in the 1980s and the Soviet era provides a backdrop of bureaucracy and menace which really adds to the drama. Our main criticism was that the protagonist seemed a little too young for her professional role but that didn’t detract.
