Robert P @Superbad Sep 10, 2026 Showgirls is not a great Movie! See more Jasmine W @jasniquejewels Aug 31, 2026 "thanks. it’s a Versayce." fuck your way to the top or whatever the saying is I really think crystal and nomi should’ve just kissed with whatever lesbian heated rivalry they had going on also those bdsm bobs and nomi pushing crystal kinda iconic. this showgirl male dominated power society is really fucked up and this film really shows it, from the beginning to very end already hooked me into the whole show and was shocked from the start. NOMI MALONE IS GODDESS See more Chris S @Janomi Jul 13, 2026 Showgirls is not a "good" movie. It's quite bad at times, but it's interesting. Paul Verhoeven’s direction is loud, glossy, trashy, cruel, and excessive, turning Las Vegas into a neon nightmare of sex, power, exploitation, and performance. Nothing is subtle, but that bluntness gives the movie a strange identity. Elizabeth Berkley gives a fearless performance as Nomi, committing to every angry, desperate, ambitious emotional swing. Whether it works or not, she is never boring. Gina Gershon is the sharpest part of the film as Cristal Connors, bringing seduction, humor, manipulation, and danger to her scenes with Nomi. The backstage melodrama has strong camp energy, with rivalry, jealousy, and ambition pushed into something nasty and bizarre. The problem is that the dialogue is often blunt, awkward, and unintentionally funny, and the characters rarely feel real. There are things to appreciate, but mostly as an outrageous spectacle. See more David K @CherishedCritic Jun 25, 2026 If it wasn't for that scene at the end of the film, I'd call this a campy cult classic. But that narrative tools (and it shouldn't be a tool) was totally unnecessary. See more William T. @Will1 Jun 1, 2026 The #1 camp MASTERPIECE in cinematic history!!!! Pure adult rated popcorn fun. If you don’t agree, Bye Darlin’. See more Tom F @RT55173143 May 30, 2026 The revisionist consensus seems to be that the film and Elizabeth Berkley are undeserving of the original hostility. Verhoeven’s work always rewards an attentive viewing, but this remains a mess with parts that age better than others. See more Read all reviews
