The traps are brutal, clever, and psychologically intense, forcing both characters and viewers to confront moral choices that linger long after the scene ends. The screenplay is strong enough to keep you invested, giving each character just enough depth so their survival—or demise—actually matters. Director Darren Lynn Bousman keeps the tension tight, building suspense while maintaining clarity in the chaos. The pacing moves quickly but never loses focus, and the film does a great job establishing who these people are before the horror unfolds. Amanda’s development adds another compelling layer, showing how deeply Jigsaw’s ideology runs. Overall, Saw 2 delivers exactly what fans hoped for: sharp storytelling, disturbing traps, and a gripping atmosphere that makes it one of the franchise’s strongest sequels. See more kish b Nov 17 ☆☆☆☆☆ Saw II is the moment the franchise took a hard left turn into gratuitous gore-fest territory and never looked back, abandoning every ounce of tension, intelligence, and storytelling craft that made the original work. Where the first film was a claustrophobic, twisty psychological thriller with one room and one brilliant idea, Saw II throws eight people into a house full of ridiculous death traps, gives them poison gas for a timer, and just… watches them scream and bleed for 93 minutes. The traps are no longer clever or personal; they’re just sadistic carnival rides (the needle pit and the hand-trap furnace are pure "look how nasty we can be" shock value). The big reveals feel cheap and contrived, the acting outside of Tobin Bell is bargain-basement, and Donnie Wahlberg spends the entire movie yelling like he’s auditioning for a different, worse film. The only saving grace is Jigsaw himself: Tobin Bell is still magnetic, and his scenes on the monitors are the only moments that remind you this series once had a brain. Everything else is the birth of torture porn as we know it: loud, ugly, and proud of it. Zero stars because this is the exact point where Saw stopped being horror and started being a gross-out contest. 0/10. The original was a game.
