While successful horror features from the country are currently few and far between, Lee Sang-min’s debut checks all the boxes of the genre convincingly and is the rejuvenation the genre needs. Go to Full Review

The plot does not always hold water in an otherwise skilful exercise in dread that never lets up. Go to Full Review

It’s a creepy premise, and director Lee Sang-min wrings all its potential in this conventional but well-staged, effectively scary wilderness thriller. Go to Full Review

Salmokji isn't doing anything new with the "trapped in one place" genre of ghost stories. Even so, it's a well-made bit of commercial horror that keeps you on your toes and, most likely, scratching your head. Go to Full Review

Salmokji: Whispering Water uses some typical jump scares in this horror movie about a ghost that haunts a reservoir. However, the movie has good acting performances and gripping suspense in this story about a road-view crew trying to solve the mystery. Go to Full Review

See more MB C @MB.Cinema 2 days ago **Salmokji: Whispering Water ** is a Korean horror mystery about Han Su-in and her photography team, who travel to the notorious Salmokji reservoir to retake panoramic images after a mysterious woman appears in an earlier photograph. As night falls, strange sounds and terrifying phenomena turn their routine assignment into a fight for survival, forcing the team to confront local legends about spirits lurking beneath the water. The film excels at building dread through its eerie setting, unsettling sound design, and clever use of panoramic cameras to make viewers question what they see. Kim Hye-yoon delivers a strong performance as Su-in, while the reservoir itself becomes the film’s most effective source of terror. However, thinly developed supporting characters, occasional visual darkness, and a more conventional final act keep the story from reaching its full potential. See more Read all reviews
