Rather than a hagiography, Bonello confronts his subject’s personhood without dwelling on his genius, leaving viewers with no clear sense of how one should feel about Yves Saint Laurent. That’s part of what makes the film so exceptional.

The fashion designs were beautiful, but Saint Laurent spent his time either working or doing drugs & drinking. The film did not tell the truth of his death, it was way too long & not helpful to viewers trying to figure out where the plot was in the timeline.

Starts like a documentary, turns into a fever dream, is almost saved by the clothes at the inevitable showing at the end but the fever dream on steroids (what is real, what is imagined) makes it a complete mess
