Initially apprehensive when her boss insists she meet with one of his most important clients, single mom Cherie (Ella Balinska) is relieved and excited when she meets charismatic Ethan (Pilou Asbæk). The influential businessman defies expectations and sweeps Cherie off her feet. But at the end of the night, when the two are alone together, he reveals his true, violent nature. Battered and terrified, she flees for her life, beginning a relentless game of cat-and-mouse with a bloodthirsty assailant hell-bent on her utter destruction. Critics Consensus

Run Sweetheart Run's heavy-handedness blunts the effectiveness of its message, but this remains a wily, unpredictable thriller.

Feste handles the action and horror in “Run Sweetheart Run” well; and for those who can handle its more preposterous twists there are trashy pulp kicks to be had here.

Feste’s overall ambition and craftsmanship, along with a fantastic central performance from Ella Balinska, hold things together even over the film’s rocky patches.

Run Sweetheart Run comes from a well-observed point of view that roughly 50% of the world’s population shares. But its singular focus is shortsighted, holding the movie back from delivering effective scares.

Downright intense survival horror film with a lot of malice projected toward not just predators, but the society that nurtures the predators.

It’s an overambitious film that attempts to take the leap with its critical ideas of how society treats women.

Silly, unconnected plot. It gives the impression it comes from a bunch of cinema students with no talent but some daddy’s money to spend. No merit in the story at all, you could ask AI and it would deliver a better one. The acting isn’t brilliant either, specially the guy playing Ethan. No depth, no character, nothing to see here. The whole menstrual blood fixation feels cheap, with zero justification in a forced narrative. It’s unbelievable it took three people to do such an inferior screenwriting. Rather than emphasising the problem it pretends to point, ends up trivialising it. In the end, male predator behaviour is of course, no men responsibility but a "the devil made me do it" repetitive argument.

Preposterous plot jumps down your throat within 15mins, I could not swallow such an undigestible lump and had to switch it off, what is wrong with screenwriters nowadays?

It has a fantastic first half, with genuine suspense and horror and dread. Mid-way through, you can feel they wrote themselves into a corner and struggled to write themselves out of it.

Honestly couldn't finish it - would rate it no stars if possible the script is so insipid and the acting so bad - but YMMV.
