Roma finds writer-director Alfonso Cuarón in complete, enthralling command of his visual craft - and telling the most powerfully personal story of his career.

In Cuarón's films, cinema conjures up its own world, and this one provides the chance to explore it with him more intimately than ever before.

Cuarón fills every corner of the frame, just as Fellini did, so that the eye has to roam the screen as though scouring a fresco. But for all the bustle and brio, it's a visually lucid movie.

The personal tragic dimension is never sacrificed to the wider political context. What is equally remarkable is that the reverse doesn’t occur either.

Despite having lived them in some fashion once before, Cuarón feels like he’s exploring these moments as earnestly as his audience — and in doing so unearths how uniting those moments of chaotic change can be.

Alfonso Cuarón's Roma is a deeply human portrait of ordinary lives that finds remarkable power in the everyday. Roma stands out for its incredible performance from Yalitza Aparicio as Cleo. It gradually invites us into the rhythms and struggles of both her life and the household she helps care for, particularly her evolving relationship with Sofía. Set against the backdrop of Mexico City in 1970-71, Roma subtly weaves in the era's political unrest and stark class divisions without being preachy. Shot in luminous black and white with long, patient takes, Roma feels unlike a traditional Hollywood drama and more like a memory unfolding in real time on a home camera.

A beautiful movie, movies usually don't get to me emotionally, but the miscarriage scene got to me personally.

This film felt extremely personal and emotional without trying too hard. I appreciated how calm and quiet the movie was because it allowed the emotions to naturally stay with you. The visuals were honestly beautiful the entire time.

Cinematography is one of the things that stands out to me. Personally hit home me since my mom is a house keeper herself. The acting is amazing and so is the storytelling.

I personally loved this movie. The portrayal of the nanny and the kids lives and how they were impacted along with the beautiful way the camera was used in places such as the beach scene were really fascinating to watch
