The setting is as baseline as it gets, and the cast turns in an average, completely middle-of-the-road performance. Where the film stumbles most is its narrative. The whole "indigenous tribe threatened by civilization" trope feels forced and overly artificial. It’s a tired formula that nobody is genuinely buying anymore. To its credit, the movie does what it set out to do - it delivers a decent enough time and keeps you entertained while it lasts. The beginning does a pretty good with showing you the dynamic of the friend group and the awkwardness between the couples. There’s a few good jump scares and relationship drama but that’s about it. The ending was underwhelming to say the least it felt like the writers wanted to write a dramatic ending but it fell flat.
