The clever banter is razor-sharp, the characters are unforgettable, and every conversation feels like it could end with either a punchline or a gunshot, which, frankly, is excellent dinner-table entertainment. Tarantino takes a room full of dangerous idiots, adds suits, blood, and enough attitude to sink a battleship, and somehow makes you care about every beautifully dysfunctional bastard. Five stars. See more Chris S @Janomi 6d Reservoir Dogs is excellent because Quentin Tarantino’s writing is so sharp and immediately distinctive. The dialogue is funny, profane, tense, and completely character-driven. The movie can make conversations about tipping, pop songs, nicknames, or suspicion feel just as entertaining as the crime story itself. The contained structure gives the film a lot of pressure. A robbery gone wrong, criminals trapped in a warehouse, and the growing certainty that one of them is a rat turn the movie into a tense breakdown of paranoia, ego, fear, and loyalty. The ensemble is terrific. Harvey Keitel gives the film weight, Tim Roth adds desperation, Steve Buscemi brings nervous energy, and Michael Madsen gives it real danger. Mr. Blonde is unforgettable because Madsen plays him with calm, casual menace, especially in the "Stuck in the Middle with You" scene.
