In Quiz Lady, a brilliant but tightly wound, gameshow-obsessed young woman, Anne (Awkwafina), and her estranged, train-wreck of a sister Jenny (Sandra Oh), must work together to help cover their mother's gambling debts. I thoroughly enjoyed watching Quiz Lady. It was so funny, so charming, and played right into my niche interests—sisters who love one another. Throw in impeccable performances, and you’ve got yourself a feel-good film that you can watch several times over.

Starts well with the engaging portrayal of two Chinese American disfunctional sisters, one of whom is a quiz genius. But the last half hour follows a rather more predictable path with the usual American happy ending.

It's right to say this is uneven. Some of the jokes don't land. But, and this is a big but, Awkwafina and the wonderful Sandra Oh are delicious as the two sisters trying to raise money to pay off a debt. The chemistry is superb and really makes the film worth watching.
