P.S. Burn This Letter Please [has] a wellspring of pleasure and intimacy while recounting the gay scene of New York and the broader United States.

The resulting documentary is a delightful and affecting oral history, chronicling a specifically New York chapter in the story of gay life in the United States.

PS Burn This Letter Please digs deep, paying homage to the generations of LGBTQ people that came before us, and drawing a line from our current thriving culture to a time of thriving underground.

Film is a beautiful thing when it gives voice to the typically voiceless and educates while entertaining.

The letters themselves are the real gems of this documentary-they're funny and insightful and uninhibited in a way that people can be when they know they are writing to someone who will understand, and whom they can trust.

This is a really good documentary on the 1950s drag scene.

A proper rating would fit if "letter" were switched to "movie". Amazon has some VERY poor choices.

Is it wrong that I just didn't care about any of this? I'm sure to the LGBTQ community, it could be interesting but even then, is it? I've seen enough documentaries or films to know how life was like for the gay community back then. I didn't need to hear it from random individuals that really had nothing interesting to say other than "SHE WAS GORGEOUS WHEN SHE WORE THAT DRESS. HER LEGS WERE TO DIE FOR".

Really, this is one of the best and little known documentaries of the year. Search it out and find it, you won't regret it. In one word it's just simply ‘fabulous'.
