At 2½ hours plus, it also has its longueurs but there are some spectacularly beautiful moments and Gosling makes an engaging companion who makes something poignant as well as funny out of Grace’s unwelcome elevation to hero status.

Brilliant and heartfelt movie, hard to do both for a sci-fi flick, but the writers, directors, and actors pulled it off. I since read Andy Weir’s book, which was chock full of science if you felt like the movie glossed over it.

Amaze. Amaze. Amaze. Two thumbs down baby. One of my all time favorites. Gosling is perfection but Rocky steals the show. I’ve already watched it more times than I can remember and quote it all the time. It’s a must watch.
