Critics Consensus

Nostalgic and inert, Practical Magic 2 has charms thanks to Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman's sisterly rapport, but its mechanical plotting is a whole lot of toil that's not worth the trouble.

Now, with Practical Magic 2 doing little more than retracing its predecessor’s steps, but stripped of a good chunk of that film’s visual charm, the legacy sequel reminds us that a solid story can rarely be built atop a flimsy foundation.

Fans of the original will no doubt be thrilled to revisit the Owens sisters’ world. But this overlong, muddled, sporadically amusing picture may test the patience of even the most dedicated Practical Magic loyalist.

It was a pleasant surprise, albeit a small one, that "Practical Magic 2" wasn’t the unnecessary slog of a legacy sequel I feared it would be.

Two thumbs up! I loved the message of family and sacrifices a family will do for each other. I loved seeing the original characters play their parts in the movie. Watching their experience with death and how they overcome obstacles as a family was very moving.

I wanted to like it. My friends were really into this movie but I just couldn't like it. I thought it was cheesy and trite.

Not sure what the negative reviews were about but glad I didn’t listen. This was a wonderful sequel and a testament to womanhood and sisterhood.

I loved it. Saw it by myself and was amazed of how they created such an addition to the first one. Would see it again.

Great movie. Fun to see all the original characters back and the storyline was great. In the end, love won out. I want to see one more telling a bit more of the story.
