Three donkeys wander around an astronomical observatory. That’s it. That’s the movie. Feels more like mere footage than a fully realized movie — closer to an experimental film than documentary. Go to Full Review

Jonathan K @aFIREintheattic 3d The cinematography is gorgeous, and assuming AI wasn't involved, some of the imagery is truly remarkable. But... I didn't quite get the point of this. The "narrative" arc feels a bit too convenient and set up, making it hard to believe that these were just three random donkeys the filmmaker happened to follow. The way they let him get so close, only to eventually wander up to an observatory on their own, makes the whole thing feel scripted, and changed the experience for me. In that way, it seems more like a staged short film than an actual documentary. I'm just not sure what the intended takeaway was supposed to be. Cool stars though. That being said, this is also something where nothing meaningful really happens. The short didn't make me think or feel much of anything, and I felt it didn't resonate. Overall, it is not something I really enjoyed watching, but it got an Oscar nomination, so good for them on that front. See more Read all reviews
