See more keven q @kevenquinlan Feb 16 Good movie. Great Music. This is not unlike Prince's Purple Rain where it's a bunch of music and a story is loosely composed around it. The laugher is Glen talking about the movie before it was shot and that he wasn't sure he was gonna get the part? In a movie where you sing most of the music? Hahaha- that's some straight-up Hollywood/ L.A. BS if I ever heard it. What, were they gonna have someone lip-sync all of your lyrics? Silly. Anywho, it's a keeper just for the music. I did not make it all the way thru but whoever did deserves either an award or needs to get out more. Watching boring people is not something to do. See more Mark D @RT25678009 Oct 6 Well, Once isn't the typical love story. There's definitely some feelings between Guy and Girl, some flirting. Guy asks her to spend the night right after they met, and Girl makes a quick reference to some hanky panky. Other than that, it's really rather innocent. Guy says his girl cheated on him and broke his heart, and sings a rather angry song on the bus about how she hurt him, but the montage of their time together was quite sweet. Was he saying that just to win sympathy points with Girl? And her guy didn't seem like a bad guy at all either. Quite quickly, Guy decides to move to London to get her back and their phone call would indicate she wanted him to. Not long after that, Girl tells Guy that her husband is coming to Dublin to give it a go and the movie ends on a very happy scene with the family reunited. So when all this is revealed, we don't really feel bad that this potential couple isn't going to be together. So what are we rooting for? Guy's music career to take off? He makes a great CD of songs with Girl and 3 other musicians, but then it's all up in the air after that. Girl got a job as a house cleaner, but we don't know if she even has any ambitions of being a professional musician. It seems she just wants a happy family. And she got that at the end, it would seem. And yet, at the end, I wasn't disappointed. It's a short hour and a half long movie. Girl doesn't even reveal she is married until about 50 minutes in. And by then, you've already got the feeling the two of them aren't meant to be together, nor is that the point. It sure seemed to be the point based on the preview, hence the lower score on preview accuracy. Then again, would anyone go watch a movie called "Guy Makes a CD"?
