A mixture between comedy and romance(as is titled). There is definitly a connection that is bound to happen between oneself and this movie. Not only is it a classic but also a piece of art. I wish they made movies like this today because if they did id honestly have watched all of them. The connection between Anna Scot(Julia Roberts) and William(Hugh Grant) is there. They have some type of love that is undescribable to someone who hasnt watched the movive. I honestly would say if you havent watched this movie please do. It is a literal masterpiece with which you can do yourself a favor. I have personally visited the filming locations and it made me fall in love myself. See more Bee B @RT66293970 Mar 19 Despite a rather ridiculous plot line, particularly the unbelievable press conference, and far too much schmaltz throughout, this is still a winning film. Undeniably that is because of the charms of Hugh Grant, who really does carry the whole film, and also the superb acting abilities of the ensemble cast, all of whom are absolutely stellar. Strangely Julia Roberts' character Anna is somewhat unlikeable. She only really shines towards the end in a very romantic bookstore scene, when we are finally reminded of her acting brilliance. In the end though this is a film about Hugh's character William Thacker, a rom-com that flips the script and focuses on a vulnerable lovestruck hero rather than a heroine, and for that reason I think the film is quite unique. See more Melissa M @Lisey Mar 17 Julia Roberts character Anna in this movie is kind of cold, off putting in distant. She's a multi talented actress she has a lot of range. Hugh grant plays William a bumbling book store owner. Who's kind of awkward and shy. Rhys Ifans as Spike William's offbeat roommate has some of best comedic lines as well as some of the best lines. The part where William makes the plan to see anna. And he's mistaken for a reporter. Is LOL. The scene in the film when Anna has to hideout at Williams flat because of a story that was leaked to the press. Has some comedic parts. But it also has some bittersweet moments between William and Anna. Another LOL moment is when Anna goes with William to his sister's party. And they all try to play it cool.
