Astronaut Sam Bell's (Sam Rockwell) three-year shift at a lunar mine is finally coming to an end, and he's looking forward to his reunion with his wife (Dominique McElligott) and young daughter. Suddenly, Sam's health takes a drastic turn for the worse. He suffers painful headaches and hallucinations, and almost has a fatal accident. He meets what appears to be a younger version of himself, possibly a clone. With time running out, Sam must solve the mystery before the company crew arrives.

Made with only a fraction of your average Star Wars or Marvel movie, but does so much with (relatively little). Sam Rockwell is just fantastic given that he’s largely in the film on his own. A tremendous sci-fi movie.

Simple and alien-free example of the sci-fi genre. Slow, but there are so many details deserving attention, the chance to take them all in one only enhances the experience.

Moon is an old-fashioned sci-fi movie in the best sense: far more psychological drama than space opera, dispensing with overweening CGI and loud flashy action sequences while harking back to subtler, more ideas-driven entries in the genre.

(Overall Rating: 4.38/5) (Masterpiece) --- (Cinematography/Atmosphere: 3.75/5) Not a huge budget film and the CGI has aged a bit but the makeup and station esthetic bring it to life. --- (Storyline/Plot: 4.25/5) A really cool story that leaves just enough to the imagination. Unique concept that I think could be explored further! --- (Acting: 5/5) Essentially a 1 actor film. For Sam Rockwell to keep an audience entertained speaks magnitude about his performance here. --- (Character Quality: 4.5/5) My only complaint here is maybe using a different voice actor for GERTY. Sam as Sam was really good though. --- (Entertainment Value: 4/5) Not the most exciting of films but the persistent unknown keeps your attention. --- (Expectations vs. Reality: 4.75/5) This was the first DVD I ordered through the Netflix service and I am so glad I did!

A solid and interesting premise with a phenomenal performance from Sam Rockwell. If there was one thing that let the film down it was the ending. It had potential that it never quite reached.

This movie was incredible! I wouldn't be surprised if Mickey 17, another amazing movie, took inspiration from this film, because the similarities are striking. The story was incredibly captivating, and the isolating feeling the atmosphere evoked added to the intensity. I definitely recommend this for thriller and sci-fi fans!
