Robert P @Superbad Oct 5, 2026 Mon Oncle is a *4.5* star Movie! See more Leaburn O @RT35452347 Sep 8, 2026 Unsubtle dig at modernity which rings a bit hollow but that aside it’s a beautifully shot film and the gags are fun, not too slapstick. This is Hulot at his best. Watched on DVD. See more Ege Sarp D @egesarp Jul 20, 2026 The movie was ahead of its time. Watching it today taught me that there is something missing in the modern life and the worst part is we became so senseless to those missing parts of humanity, we don't see it. Incredible story with a beautiful setting for underlining the messages that the writer wants to give. Such a spectacular work is done. I would give it 5 star, if the pacing was better and some scenes felt unnecessary, but of course, I am criticising the movie after 60 years, so it was inevitable. Como diz Fellini, "Antes de tudo, um filme é uma obra de arte, um quadro em movimentos." E esse filme de Jacques Tati com certeza é um quadro em movimentos, simplesmente perfeito. See more martona t @RT52717972 Feb 10, 2022 An amusing critique of modern city and the superficiality of attraction to novelty, rold with tenderness and lightness. See more Cameron M @Cameron11 Aug 15, 2021 Very French film that is a funny critique on the advances of technology and industrialisation. The film shows the life of a family who lives a very modernist life which strips the character from their home. However, they believe it is very impressive and that their house is very "communicative". The uncle, Hulot, does not understand this way of living from the paving stones to the kitchen to the machinery in his brother-in-law's workplace which sets him hilarious hijinks. The score is very catchy tune that works very well with the day-to-day lives of these characters. The only part that became a bit stale was the dinner party where the comedic situations became a bit too absurd and impractical. Overall, a wonderfully made French film that has some great comedic timing. See more Read all reviews
