The Miracle of Morgan's Creek finds director Preston Sturges at his most zanily subversive -- not to mention hilarious.

Sturges' no-holds-barred comic cristicism of American Forces abroad is still challenging and funny. Go to Full Review Variety Staff Variety Nov 13, 2007
Done in the satirical Sturges vein, and directed with that same touch, the story makes much of characterization and somewhat wacky comedy, plus some slapstick, with excellent photography figuring throughout. Go to Full Review Dave Kehr Chicago Reader Nov 13, 2007

Sturges delights in forcing upon his characters... the entire weight of weight of the domestic prejudices, social conventions, and moral imperatives that could exist in a small American town during wartime. Go to Full Review Yasser Medina Cinefilia Dec 4, 2020

I don't know at all what Preston Sturges was thinking when making 'The Miracle of Morgan Creek', but I find his screwball comedy artificial, mediocre, and very dull when it tells his moral tale about marriage and war veterans. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review Read all reviews
