03/02/2014 An unbelievable story. I am proud to have known one of the 100 men out of 3000 that survived this mission. You would have never imagined that such a meek man could have been through so much. 3/2/14 - Home See more 01/30/2014 Film is good except it does not point out the problem of food as in 1943 the Army had dropped production of the 10 in 1 high calorie ration as a cost cutting measure. See more 03/23/2013 another WWII gem from sam fuller post WWII See more 02/25/2012 a band of soldiers (forerunners of today's rangers) must move through enemy territory and secure important points to stop the japanese advance in WW 2. somewhere in the 70s, and especially the 80s, war movies became much more "realistic" and explored combat more from the subjective psychological perspective. this film however is from the old school - objective, black and white, flag-waving, for love of country and honor old school. as such it works, but i could imagine a much more powerful remake of this film - and surely this is a tale worth retelling. See more 01/19/2012 Truly inspiring perhaps in it's day, Merrill's Marauders doesn't translate well. There are far too many better depictions of war that have been made since. It doesn't even match up to Objective Burma which covered much of the same ground. See more 11/19/2011 Os filmes de Samuel Fuller não precisam de muito tempo para me conquistar: "Merril's Marauders" à (C) um filme de guerra para homens de barba rija e, nos primeiros 25 minutos, já despachou duas sequências de batalha capazes de rivalizar com o melhor que se fez no gà (C)nero. O mestre não perde tempo e obtà (C)m sempre a intensidade e o drama que quer. Tirando partido dos previlà (C)gios oferecidos pela produção em grande da Warner Bros., "Merril's Marauders" conta a história de um batalhão de bravos que avança pela Birmânia, contra tudo e contra todos, para impedir as tropas japonesas de se unirem às alemãs, na Segunda Guerra Mundial. Talvez tambà (C)m porque se trata de um filme da Warner, as mortes dos soldados americanos são sempre mais dignas que as dos japoneses. Nada que impeça Samuel Fuller de fazer um filme claramente patriótico, mas sempre sofisticado e muito mais complexo do que possa parecer na sinopse. Vale a pena ver nem que seja para observar uns quantos paralelos interessantes com "A Barreira Invisível". Ainda não à (C) desta que vejo um Samuel Fuller que seja pior que "muito bom".
