A fascinating watch whether or not you're a tennis fan, McEnroe offers a layered look at one of the sport's all-time greats.

This captivating new documentary by Barney Douglas shows an entirely different side of McEnroe -- and reveals him to have been a far more sensitive soul than most will have suspected.

I love this film... Seeing John McEnroe become the guy that he became.

While the film proves to be a wonderful time capsule for the fashion (and the hair!) of the ’70s and ’80s, there’s not much more to McEnroe.

Still, we get a sense of his perfectionism and how, ultimately, the drive to succeed prevented him from enjoying his career as much as he might and perhaps should have.

Generally good document on the sports legend and tennis icon. McEnroe's place in the culture of tennis is well secured. His place in the annals of the all-time greats is a bit nebulous. Here's a player who had it all on his racquet to be in the argument of that top 2% of players. It's not a doc trying to figure out all the intricacies of the man and his failings. But it does show him and his life, personal and public, and how it worked to aid and hinder him transforming into the beloved personality and tennis expert he is today. 3.4 stars

Far too long. Eventually became boring and too self indulgent.
