A risible mess of in-your-face product placement and overly familiar plotting, this can’t be saved even by a talented cast of comedians. You’d be better off playing with toy cars.

Matchbox: The Movie aims for nothing — it can’t really fail because there are no expectations.

The film aims to bring to life the imagination a child brings to his toys, and it delivers with a welcome spirit and even a little sweetness.

The action is exciting, of course, as are the international locations, but the film runs long and is so Hollywood familiar/formulaic that it's entirely predictable.

The characters on two legs aren’t as compelling as those on four wheels. It overflows with nostalgic affection for the titular toys, yet the ridiculous story never gets out of first gear.

Bottom line: Matchbox: The Movie might’ve been tolerably brainless escapism without all the shameless brand promotion.

This was such a fun feel-good movie that everyone can enjoy. I had no idea what to expect and was so happily surprised. It’s funny, heart-warming, action-filled and just what we need in a movie these days. I loved the chemistry between the five main characters. The one liners are hilarious. I found myself laughing at loud at the physical comedy. Just an all-around feel good light movie. I will definitely be watching this movie again when I need to lift my spirits and laugh.

Comes off as a hot wheels type movie but that’s only 5 minutes of the movie. The rest is basic John Cena action.

For this genre of movie, it was probably the best I have seen in a long time! It may not be a cinematic masterpiece but there is good action and some good laughs. A feel good movie for sure. John Cena is great in this and Daniel Bernhardt is at his best yet!

I like John Cena but this was absolutely awful. I laughed 2 times through the whole movie. The action was really bad and not exciting at all. Cena needs to pick better movies than this crap.
