When Jane (Karen Dotrice) and Michael (Matthew Garber), the children of the wealthy and uptight Banks family, are faced with the prospect of a new nanny, they are pleasantly surprised by the arrival of the magical Mary Poppins (Julie Andrews). Embarking on a series of fantastical adventures with Mary and her Cockney performer friend, Bert (Dick Van Dyke), the siblings try to pass on some of their nanny's sunny attitude to their preoccupied parents (David Tomlinson, Glynis Johns).

See more Ranjeetta K @RT24577085 Aug 3 The film is great with songs like Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious, Sister suffragette and all of that, yet I do give this 2.5 star. While this film is a truly unique classic, in the Uncle Albert sequence, the male characters(Bert and Uncle Albert)all seem to be off whilst the children is not a problem. Mary Poppins is the only dignified character in this scene as she refuses to laugh and float to the ceiling. Plus, in the step in time sequences, this one is far too long, consisting of 8 minutes.
