Ronald H @RT44372985 1 day ago This film is derivative of Alien, but the production values and big name cast redeem it somewhat. My biggest issue is how nihilistic it is. I'm having a hard time thinking of any film with a bleaker ending. It's just downright depressing. See more Priya C @Sci-FiTrekkie 4 days ago *Review contains some SPOILERS* Life is very much similar to the Alien films. It doesn’t really add much of anything new and the twist ending was something I predicted. I thought the alien creature looked cool. And I loved that the film showed how the alien sees things through its eyes. The visuals of space were also beautiful. I love scenery with space so that’s always a plus for me. Also shoutout to them keeping the original idea from Alien where quarantine procedures are shown to be done. Not always successfully but I’m glad they re-iterated this throughout the film. If there were some things I wish the film did better it would be better characterization of the characters and showing some scenes of how they discovered the alien. See more Betty L @bettylou2u 5 days ago Of course, this film reminded me of Alien almost immediately. Unlike Alien, I felt palpable tension grow at a much more steady rate from beginning to end. It was more horror than sci-fi. The special effects (like death scenes) were creepy (as opposed to all blood and gore). And I honestly kept hoping that it would be different by not having an Alien-like ending, e.g. several crew members figuring out how to kill the creature and surviving. Good twist at the end, but just once could we have a more realistic ending with the creature being treated for what it is — an animal, not some super smart advanced predator. Also they killed Ryan renolds off immediately even though he was the most interesting character. The story was intriguing, and the visuals were amazing. The design of the alien managed to both mystify me and terrify me, and the film leaves you with a sense of wonder and terror at what could be living in the cosmos. I definitely recommend this for horror and sci-fi fans! See more Read all reviews
