Stéphane’s return to his hometown and his memories of Thomas capture the intensity of first love with honesty and warmth. While the film celebrates the beauty of connection, it also carries a heavy sadness, reminding us that some love stories remain only in memory. See more John H @RT46694445 10/18/2024 Looking at the cover pic, I thought this was going to be just another sensual drama without much substance. I was wrong. This movie is all substance. As others have noted, the basic theme is not new, but in this film it is told so movingly. You need to watch carefully...don't watch with one eye on your social media feed or you won't catch all of the many nuances (listen up fellow critics...) Details are revealed slowly, and shock the lead characters at the same time they shock the observant viewer. The characters are far more complex, and complicated, than they might first seem. Facial expressions and body language tell more of the story than words, and de Tonquedec is a master in this regard. The actors, even the young ones, seem to be fully immersed in their roles and have true chemistry. There are so many little surprises along the way, but you have to appreciate how nuanced they are presented. Indeed, the complex psychology of the film is far more important than the sex. The last little surpise hit me immediately after finishing the film: the double entendre in the film's title. Two people lying together...and lying. See more Read all reviews
