Critics Consensus

Jeepers Creepers has a promising start -- unfortunately, the tension and suspense quickly deflates into genre cliches as movie goes on.

If the reptile brain in you, that ugly little cluster of cerebral cells where all the destructive urges lie, needs a good jolt, Jeepers Creepers offers you just such a treat.

An unsettling, gory, but intelligent horror flick.

What it lacks in studio-level finesse it more than makes up for with unrelenting imagination and a creepily visceral punch.

An absurd horror yarn in which a winged demon goes on a murderous rampage whenever he hears the title tune. (Personally, Phil Collins’ “Sussudio” and Magic!’s “Rude” are the only songs that would make me take a hatchet to someone’s head, but I digress.)

Instantly suspenseful from the start and bolstered by tremendously believable performances from the two leads, this unique flight of dark imagination is a terrific variation on the "psycho from hell" formula and a memorably gruesome horror fantasy.

Jonathan Brack’s Creeper is a morbid and perverted weirdo — every bit as funny as chilling — who totally steals the second half once he’s given more screen time to fool around.

It started out as an absolute nightmare with a terrifying entity Then as the movie went on it turned into a rushed written drama I can’t give it less than 3 stats because of how terrifying and nightmarish the character is I really don’t get scared of movies, but the movie was scary I liked it but it definitely wasn’t amazing due to it going downhill Otherwise the movie was good 3.5 stars, could’ve been 5 if the momentum succeeded

Jeepers Creepers, not gonna lie i expected more from this movie because all i ever hear people say is good things about it. Now by no means was this a bad movie i just thought that there wasnt really anything that stood out to me, little to no gore, no jumpscares and no backstory to the killer. Overall just a mid movie in my opinion.

A different kind of slasher film. Intelligent with a different kind of bad guy. Here the two college students discover a basement full of bodies in a rural area of Arizonia. They are then stalked thru back roads and a police department by a being that seems like a cross between the Alien and Freddy Kruger and in a way he is. Gina Philips is sufficiently horrified and Justin Long's bulging eyes makes the terror of their situation obvious. The final scene explains it all.

Pretty decent kick-off for what so painfully wants to be a much bigger franchise. I like the feel of the film, but it definitely has a "lacks something" vibe. Also, the lady could have just told Justin Long's character that The Creeper wanted his eyes...she didn't need to be so damn cryptic. AEB says: lots of long and drawn-out scenes, and lots of scenes in cars.

A ridiculous and completely fictional movie. The story is nonsense, and there is absolutely no real creature like the one portrayed in this film. The Creeper is nothing more than a made-up horror character. Not scary or believable at all — just silly and disappointing.
