Critics Consensus

Fan-focused to a fault, Jay & Silent Bob Reboot tries to mock the same audience nostalgia it's mining -- and pulls it off often enough to satisfy the faithful.

Awkward and unfunny in exceptionally long stretches, Reboot probably won't turn his diehard fans against him. But it's unlikely to win him any new converts either. For that, there's Clerks, Mallrats, or Chasing Amy.

The most uninspired and unfocused load of fan service that Smith has yet unleashed on his remaining hardcore audience.

Rather, this is a movie about all the dick and weed jokes, but also about what happens when the past becomes a prison.

Reboot is a rip-roaring romp that doesn't profess to be anything other than a lot of fun, Jay and Silent Bob-style. And that it is. Snoochie boochies, dude.

Scattershot, self-indulgent and sometimes sloppy it may be, but this Reboot is certainly never derivative or dull.

I admittedly had low expectations but the movie won me over pretty quickly. it's hilarious and does a great job of incorporating characters from throughout the view askewniverse.

The movie is for the fans of all of other Kevin Smith's movies. To anyone who rates this a one doesnt understand that it is a homage to the fans, or doesnt like Kevin Smith's movies. I laughed the entire time and there were some tender moments and some phenomenal acting by Jason Mewes.

Saw this movie on opening night so I'm a fanboy I suppose. If your are of the fold, then this movie oozes with familiarity and will make you feel at home. I laughed my way through and enjoyed the cheap jokes and recalls to my youth. What a wonderful time I had enjoying a bit of freedom from the world at hand with my friends from the View Askewaverse.

A little slow getting into the story and the courtroom scene was WAY too long but the jokes landed and it was a good time overall.
