It's been 10 years since Jason Bourne (Matt Damon) walked away from the agency that trained him to become a deadly weapon. Hoping to draw him out of the shadows, CIA director Robert Dewey assigns hacker and counterinsurgency expert Heather Lee to find him. Lee suspects that former operative Nicky Parsons is also looking for him. As she begins tracking the duo, Bourne finds himself back in action battling a sinister network that utilizes terror and technology to maintain unchecked power.

It's just like old times. Once again, Bourne hurtles from one grey and gritty European metropolis to another at breathtaking speed... And once again, Greengrass stages the action with bone-jarring immediacy.

Much of Jason Bourne consists of grim action set pieces interspersed with long sequences of people sitting in front of computer screens. Somehow the movie is simultaneously frenetic and static, going nowhere really, really fast.

Jason Bourne has its moments, mainly because Matt Damon is back in the role. Even if the movie around him is not as strong as the original trilogy, Damon still brings the quiet intensity, physical control, and haunted presence that made Bourne work. He feels older, more worn down, and still extremely dangerous. The action still has impact, especially the Athens riot sequence and the Las Vegas chase. The movie is big, chaotic, and physical, giving the story the forward motion expected from the series. Tommy Lee Jones brings cold institutional authority as CIA Director Dewey, while Alicia Vikander gives Heather Lee a smart, calculating presence. The modern surveillance angle is a natural update, shifting Bourne’s world toward privacy, technology, data, and mass control. The problem is that the movie feels unnecessary after Ultimatum. It brings Bourne back, but does not uncover anything powerful enough to justify reopening his story. There is plenty to like, but it feels less essential.

Brilliant! Paul Greengrass just knows how. Adrenaline rush as ever before, and then some. Very well written and brought to screen. Amazing cinematography, as usual. Visually stunning. Lots of the familiar action in all shapes, forms and sizes, with some new spice thrown into the mix. Technically evolved in just about all aspects of film making. Alicia Vikander shines in character and rest of cast surely convincing as ever. Strap yourself in and enjoy the ride, and don't blink, at this pace you will miss something
