The evil is always just out of sight even when it's right in front of you. --- (Storyline/Plot: 3.75/5) I get keeping things vague but the characters have to know something to seclude themselves like they did. I feel like even a little info could have gone a long way. --- (Acting: 4.25/5) Solid acting makes the characters feel real and believable. --- (Character Quality: 4/5) This is exactly how I could see real people behaving in an event like this, suspicious hope. --- (Entertainment Value: 4/5) The tension ratchets up from the start and never really let's you breath and when it does, it does so falsely. --- (Expectations vs. Reality: 3.75/5) Ok, the title is very metaphorical, that with the trailer paint a very different picture of what this movie is truly about. The story follows a family hiding in the woods during a deadly outbreak, whose fragile routine is disrupted when a stranger asks for help. What follows is a series of moral decisions and consequences that slowly unravel their sense of safety. While the plot is familiar and sometimes predictable, the film’s strength lies in its atmosphere and emotional focus, especially through Travis, whose fear and pain anchor the story. The tension builds gradually toward an expected yet impactful climax. Light on traditional horror and action, the film works best as a psychological thriller and drama, despite some thin world-building. Very much so a movie where the monster(s) aren't the scariest thing in the movie, but the people are. A classic "the people are the monsters" type of movie. It lulls into a sense of comfort for a short bit where things seem alright, but the tension remains until it comes to an ugly head. There is no satisfying ending, though that seems to be part of the point. A good watch and would maybe give it a re-watch for fun. See more Read all reviews
