A film lacking Herzog's USP -- an ironic and regressive sense of the irreducible power of images -- 'Invincible' feels as though it has been devised by a scholar steeped in Herzog lore, but who at some crucial early stage mistook him for Istvan Szabo. There's a sugar coating to the way Papale's story unfolds, but not so much that you'll spoil your dinner. Go to Full Review Bill Muller Arizona Republic Aug 25, 2006

Even Papale's most famous play, recovering a fumble to set up a touchdown, is embellished, as if Disney can't bear to stick with the facts. Go to Full Review Thomas Delapa Boulder Weekly Mar 29, 2024

Even through the sepia-toned sanitization of the Disney production, you can't help but like and root for Vince Papale. His story gives the economically struggling city of Philadelphia and their Eagles what they needed at the right time: Hope. Go to Full Review Rachel Wagner Rachel's Reviews (YouTube) Jun 29, 2020

Adrix TH T @RT64779319 Sep 19, 2026 Where Omniman? Where Atom Eve? Where Mark Grayson? Where Thragg? 0/10 absolute lies See more Chris B @Papa13070 Aug 11, 2026 Not just for Philadelphia Eagles fans, but for all sports fans who love a great underdog story. Watching this film, I was transported back to the gritty streets of South Philly in 1976, watching the impossible dream unfold for a guy down on his luck, but determined to change his life with his love for football -- and for his favorite team, the Eagles. Mark Wahlberg did an excellent job playing the improbable hero Vince Papale. The supporting cast is also very good, with a great turn by Elizabeth Banks, who believes in Vince's dream of making it in the NFL. It shows that with hard work and determination, anything is possible. A film for the whole family to enjoy! See more Kyle M @RT77296778 Aug 2, 2026 The film’s narrative stance on dreamers, and ode to locally dedicated football fans, is admirable enough to honor the star player’s composited story on average cheers, with expected momentums surprisingly downplayed through formulaic deviation that impactfully lingers rather than notably memorable engaging. It was even better since it was based on true events. It's definitely worth the watch.
