...based on a short film by the same filmmaker. It doesn’t work very well, which is a shame. The actors deliver good portrayals, and the special effects are good, but the story is too weak. Go to Full Review

Nunya B @RT07877524 45m Hive (2026) delivers a powerful presence through its Indigenous female lead her strength alone makes the film stand out. She carries the story with resilience and intensity, giving it emotional weight from start to finish. The supporting cast adds to the experience, making the film engaging and entertaining overall. What truly stands out is the cultural layer seeing Indigenous Mesoamerican identity represented through a lens of survival, strength, and endurance. The film leans into themes of oppression and exploitation, portraying a people who, despite being taken advantage of, remain fighters and survivors. That sense of resilience runs throughout the story and gives it a deeper impact. Hive is not just about the plot it’s about representation, strength, and the enduring spirit of a culture that refuses to be broken. See more David G @DavidGonzo 1h This movie scared the heck out of me!!! It presents a novel approach to horror, an approach that made me want to know what happens next--pronto!! "Hive" is eerie and most of all, scary. See more Melissa L @Agent99 9h It was too hyped up before it was released, so I expected more. It was unique, though. See more Christina L @RT34802840 23h Please do not waste your time with this movie like I did! Really stupid plot with the main character, Sasha, doing stupid irrational things. See more Claudia D @Cafe1971 1d A really different horror film. Colourful but scary. Love the story, the message and the actors! A really different scary movie! See more prawnda S @RT72497680 2d tubi clearly put a little more effort into this than average, and the acting is generally decent especially for the groups of kids. with all of the girl power horror or horror/comedy films recently, xochitl deserves a bigger budget project with better writing, props, costume and sets though. many of said sets are quite elaborate, but have a noticeable cheapness and lack of finish. it's not breaking immersion much, but a lot of clear plastic sheets and some pools lit up with colored lights isn't a very convincingly "organic" aesthetic. every character wears the exact same outfit for every scene as far as i've been able to find, which is okay if it takes place over a single day or something but still reeks of cut corners. if xochi were not in this it would be wildly forgettable.
