Critics Consensus

Hercules has Brett Ratner behind the cameras and Dwayne Johnson rocking the loincloth -- and delivers exactly what any reasonable person reading that description might expect.

The battle scenes between rival armies are ambitious and long, with a body count to rival 300, but Ratner's unremarkable direction offers no surprises.

Everything Guardians of the Galaxy gets right with its mix of action and comedy, Hercules botches.

Ratner has fashioned an adequate action-adventure around Johnson's horse-heaving he-man, a hero who's still larger than life even after the legend has supposedly been stripped away.

Before it’s all over, our hero will battle Narnia’s Aslan, throw a horse over his head, and be forced to wear a beard made from the hair off a yak’s testicles.

It’s impossible to call “Hercules” a great movie mainly because it lacks originality and borrows too much from too many other films.

Dwayne Johnson dispatches baddies with Arnold Schwarzenegger styled one-liners. In it he's not subverting his persona, as he did in Pain & Gain, but he can still sneer his through a pay off with aplomb...

I watched the first 5 minutes or so of this disaster. When the guy who is presumably to be Ben Hur calls out for help in the middle of the desert, I decided that was enough.

idk what to feel about this movie. it feels more of like a goofy movie rather than a proper greek mythology-based storytelling. maybe because dwayne johnson is th lead actor thats why i cant take this movie seriously

One of the worst big-budget movies ever made. All the actors are uninspiring and reading a crap script. That met with Brett Ratner's talentless direction yields a big steamy pile of you know what.
