Worthwhile in an archival sort of way, in that it's fascinating to see what passed for comedy in the horrifically tacky era of the late 1970's. Go to Full Review

C C @FairandHonest 12/21/2024 Dated but funny. Barbara Eden & whole cast elevate the production. Great cinematography & realistic settings. See more Chris M 03/16/2023 People love saying something from a certain time is "dated" which means it's bad. But this is oddly relevant to the 2023 when I wrote this review. As fake moralist that stay up on their high and mighty throne look down on any they find undesirables but aren't as pure as they pretend to be. Stella's revenge is swift and sweet and hilarious. Just the only problem is that it drags at times. More people needs to see this all but forgotten gem. See more gregory p 01/17/2021 Decent little, cutesy-whootsey flick. Entertaining enough. See more 01/17/2020 Funny and entertaining very underrated film. See more 03/16/2017 Another random re-watch from the collection that is based on a country and western song from my youth! The wife and I gave this a spin and I was very pleasantly surprised by how much fun this one is. Worth a rental for some down home country fun. See more 04/17/2016 Yes, not extremely academy award worthy or anything but very entertaining. Some parts of the story line may seem extreme but they bring brevity and as for certain parts "not being funny" it wasn't all suppose to be funny there are some dark parts because that is how they were intended. However, I personally find it to be quite amusing and heartfelt. Though, revenge through hair loss is a bit extreme, Stella Johnson makes her point and the hypocritical towns people deserve a lot of what she serves them. The speech she makes in front of the PTA is especially powerful because it proves her point about hypocrisy. So all in all it was pretty funny but has some serious moments. For anyone who may not have found a particular part funny it just may not have been meant to be funny so I wouldn't advise someone who is a "bigshot film critic" to downgrade an entire era in the 70s as tacky because it doesn't make one seem particularly intelligent. Anyone I enjoy the movie, so see it for yourself, keep it in context, and enjoy my idol Barbara Eden. See more Read all reviews
