What to Know

Critics Consensus

The world ends more with a whimper in Greenland 2: Migration compared to its predecessor's big bang thrills, but Gerard Butler's sturdy star power keeps this continuation reasonably compelling.

Audience Says

Another serviceable natural disaster flick led by Gerard Butler, Greenland 2: Migration delivers decent thrills even if the corny ending fails to stick the landing.

This sequel doubles down on its predecessor’s earnestness, to the point of alternating between grimly offing side characters at random and then getting all maudlin about its own pitilessness. Go to Full Review

Offers up a proudly, even defiantly optimistic view of what comes after disaster, which can serve for the viewer as either cathartic fictional balm, or Pollyanna-ish fantasy — pick your poison. Go to Full Review

This sequel may be focused more on emotion and character -- since the whole comet thing happened long ago -- but the problem is, none of this is compellingly rendered, and is forgotten when convenient. Go to Full Review

Its modesty doesn't understand subplots but doesn't leave out the spectacle. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

Ric Roman Waugh films the end of the world not as a threat, but as a collective state of mind, and adds details that point to a more edgy contemporary reading than usual in disaster films, although he doesn't dwell on it too much. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

Bigger in scale but smaller in impact, Greenland 2: Migration trades intimacy for generic spectacle. Solid effects and a committed Gerard Butler can’t hide a sequel that feels predictable, overly solemn and ultimately interchangeable. Go to Full Review

Angela K 21h Surprisingly great for a sequel to this type of movie- Earth doomsday- which is exactly what I thought I was in store for when I bought the tickets, but they did a good job at not making this predictable and boring. Sure, some scenarios were a bit over-the-top and not really that believable, but all movies seem to take that route these days. For instance- the Fast & the Furious movie that made them take a car into space and somehow come back from space, all in just the upgrades and craftsmanship of some car mechanics.... yeah. or when they jumped from one building to another, somehow surviving without any bystanders getting hurt. you get my drift. No movie made anymore keep realistic or even close to, so this movie at least kept it within boundaries we viewers wouldn't have an inclination of if what're we were watching would even be possible because we've never actually experienced anything like it in history! unlike the car making it into space safely & back again, which we all are very aware is completely absurd and NOT AT ALL POSSIBLE!! I think this movie was great and definitely worth watching! won't win any Oscars but at least it's worth the hard earned money we have to pay and be entertained for the evening!! ☆☆☆☆☆ See more Travis Feb 9 It was ok, not great. See more Mr Hollywood Feb 5 Waste of time. An unnecessary sequel. Skip only watch the first one See more Random Audience Member Feb 5 Worthy follow up to the preceding story See more Sydney Feb 4 It was entertaining for sure. Wish the ending had been a bit different. They overcame way too many odds but I guess that was the whole point. See more Jonathan T Feb 2 This is wife’s review. She states that the actors brought characters and emotion to life, even though some of the effects were inconsistent and the story sometimes did not hit the high points. She does, however, loved how the actors expressed their emotions and pulled the audience into the story with their legitimate reactions. See more Read all reviews
