Poppy Hill” is beautiful, but more dull than expected. It would be nice to see Goro Miyazaki engage in stories that actually resonate with him, rather than to follow his father’s script (or footsteps).

It might not be one of the most well-regarded or well-produced of the studio's films, but it's a high point in Gorō's career and one of the final brushstrokes in his father's, and that's more than enough to justify a visit to Poppy Hill.

It was so cute, lol they were ready to risk it all. Also that one scene where he has white shirt on, sleeves rolled up, watch, messy hair, hand on head to hide the smile after talking to her HEHEHEHE

Rating: 84%. As usual, Ghibli did a wonderful job on the animation, as it was both detailed and beautiful. This was a cute romance story that had good character design and dialogue. I am not big into romances, but I was still entertained the whole time. It didn't blow my mind, but they did a good job of creating emotional moments and evoking childhood nostalgia. Well done.
