thiago S @Thiagostone May 22, 2026 Filme fraco, o roteiro é fraco, as cenas são fracas, a história é fraca, o elenco é fraco, e ninguém ajuda a melhorar o filme, os personagens são fracos, e o filme deveria ter cenas bem melhores e relevantes, para fazer o filme ser bom See more Jacqueline M @E.Shosh Dec 7, 2025 This movie gets a bad rap and I think that it’s a timeless comedy, it’s very hard to find and not available on streaming. But, I was able to find a copy of it on DVD and watched with my kids and they were crying in laughter. My sister and I will often quote it with inside jokes "MacDonalds!!" …"are you hungry dad?" Folks has been a movie icon in my family for many years, it's truly a family favorite (and this is coming from someone who's family is prone to dementia!) .. it's relatable, which is what makes so many comedians so funny! .. I was shocked to discover that so many found the movie offensive.. this is a testament that we are truly living in an age of "easily offended" .. if you're reading this and you haven't watched this movie yet?, Don't let any of the negative reviews dissuade you .. watch it for yourself and you'll find that the movie is NOT "making fun of old people with dementia" .. quite the contrary.. it depicts the real life struggles that so many of us cope with day-to-day.. ups AND downs .. I also find it interesting that if you click on "read full review" on any of the negative reviews showing on this page, the only one that doesn't say "page can't be found" is the one written in Spanish See more Rob S @RT44522452 May 15, 2023 This is a dark comedy that my whole family enjoyed when I was a kid and it first came out. It wouldn't sit well currently as the PC culture is pretty strong. Tom Selleck's company is involved in illegal activities, he isn't involved, but no one believes him and the luck just goes down from there. Dark part comes when they decide to claim life insurance money from his father but he's still alive, and mostly senile. Selleck seems to be cursed for going along with such a terrible idea by getting beat/damaged/injured physically, but it never works and no one dies. The movie is both terrible and endearing and it has a happy ending with a nice twist on a misunderstanding of the grandfather's dementia.
