Waverly (Andrea Bang) thought she had her future figured out. She'd start her medical residency in Toronto after a summer visit to her parents in Taipei. When her plans are suddenly changed, she makes an impulsive detour to a small Canadian town, where she meets local lifeguard Blake (Robbie Amell). After he saves her from nearly drowning at a beach party, Blake offers to teach Waverly to swim, and as the lessons continue, the two unexpectedly find themselves falling in love. But will Blake's ties to his past and Waverly's plans to begin a new job keep them apart once summer ends? Based on the novel by Kate Marchant.

Float rises higher than expectations due in part to the delicate cinematography by Alfonso Chin, and by the additions in LaVercombe and Lee's script. Go to Full Review

I didn't think they had a whole lot of chemistry, which is a problem for a movie like this. Go to Full Review

Unless filmmakers are willing — or able — to craft something new in this genre, or at worst, to convey a fresh sensation from something familiar, perhaps it's best not to try altogether. Go to Full Review

While it initially starts in a relatable sense to the audience, it loses much of its authenticity and charm in the lackluster filler and predictability, drowning with no chance of rescue. Go to Full Review

As a movie, however, the bows are all tied up a little too neatly, and the romance, while between two twenty-somethings, still gives off first-love vibes. Go to Full Review

Rey Rey R @RT46229373 1d This is such a sweet romantic movie 🥰 The leads have great chemistry together. The supporting actors are real and do feel like they are family. I would definitely recommend and watch again. Yes, predictable but do you watch romance movies to be bummed out? Ofc not. The movie gives you all the good feelings. Some have said it’s like a Hallmark movie but what’s wrong with that? Much better acting though 😎 See more Genteras L @RT81797921 Oct 2 I liked this movie, it's very romantic and the casting is great. See more Ellie C @RT33279018 12/06/2024 The movie, Float, is an eh for me. I personally read the book which was obviously big enough for them to make a movie on. I think that even though movies often leave out scenes from books, they left out some really important scenes. Blake doesn’t start out as some nice welcoming dude(he’s standoffish and rude), she hid she couldn’t swim by saying she got stuck in a wave pool, the twins worked an ice cream shop and not a bar, she got her bathing suit from Alissa before getting lessons. The HUGE surfing scene where she’s scared because she can’t swim and Blake is with her the whole time. Not to mention Blake did have parents and his little sister was a toddler/baby. If I excluded the book and just looked at the movie, it’d be a decent movie just not memorable at the least. There wasn’t much chemistry between the characters and they kind of drug on something without adding any “spice”. I was excited for Waverly and Blake’s characters, but they were just dull. See more Daniel G @DanielGodoy 10/06/2024 Nice coming-of-age movie with a late blooming young lady who's already ready for medical residency and takes a break at a pictoresque location with totally cool people and just a little tension between her love-interest and his sister. Though conventional, the acting was strong and raised the level just a bit. See more Read all reviews
