What to Know

Critics Consensus

While an improvement on its predecessor, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer is nevertheless a juvenile, simplistic picture that has little benefit beyond its special effects.

An off-brand superhero movie, the cinematic equivalent of one of those generic breakfast cereals with a badly drawn squirrel for a mascot. Go to Full Review

The film's effects people perform many miracles, from draining the River Thames to ensuring that the Thing produces a convincing smile. But one thing they can't do is to make the unfailingly wholesome Mr Fantastic and friends worth worrying about. Go to Full Review

David L @RT26256886 9h This script of this movie feels like something that belongs in a silent movie. Totally outdated creative writing that made the whole movie so unbearable to watch that turning on the news felt like actual entertainment. See more Joseph Tutorials T @OSCGJoseph Mar 27 85% Pretty good I thought i wasn't gonna like it knowing doom is really bad in these movies and galactus cloud is Really odd but I love overall these characters how the actors play them they are really good in the roles The story is weak but this movie is fun and fast paced a lot of action See more Bret M. @BretM-3 Mar 20 Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer is a movie that is not perfect but deserves more love than it gets. The biggest mistake this movie makes is Galactus. To this day I'm unsure if they was a design choice, studio mandate, or budget constraints, but I am so annoyed with "Fart Cloud" Galactus. Even if it wasn't up to the movie makers, it's not a valid excuse for how bad this version of Galactus is. But other than that I really like this movie. I don't love the Johnny power switch subplot, but that's a minor complaint. The actors do a good job and the CGI has held up pretty well for the most part. Overall, I wish we had a new cut of this movie with comic accurate Galactus, but even without, this movie is still pretty good and worth watching. See more Trinity F. @Quasar83 Jan 31 I loved this one instead of 2025 movie. See more Read all reviews
