Newscaster Evan Baxter (Steve Carell) leaves Buffalo behind when he wins a seat in Congress. Moving his wife (Lauren Graham) and family to northern Virginia, he seems to have it made, then God (Morgan Freeman) throws a crisis of biblical proportions at his feet: The Lord wants him to build an ark and line up all the animals two-by-two in preparation for a flood.

While the use of biblical references may feel somewhat lazy, Evan Almighty plays more like a spin-off than a direct sequel, which may disappoint some fans of the series. Nevertheless, Steve Carell’s masterful comedic performance delivers enough entertainment to keep most audiences thoroughly amused.

Steve Carrell is so sweet and funny, Wanda Sykes is hilarious--I was laughing out loud almost constantly-- & Morgan Freeman and John Goodman are amazing as always. I'm very shocked by the low marks here, and literally created an account on Rotten Tomatoes just to leave a positive review. My family and I absolutely adored this movie!

It’s not funny, it’s quite righteous and felt smug. Acting is bad, cast are wasted. It’s a hot funk of a mess. Watched on DVD.

I really enjoyed it. A fun family movie. Great special effects. I watched the credits and they included what seems to be “wrap” party. Looks like everyone had fun making the movie.
