As far as Elvis Presley concert films go, Elvis on Tour is a film for Presley completists but that's about it as the King heads into the final years of his life. Go to Full Review Austin Kennedy Sin Magazine May 12, 2012

The filmmaking was energetic and visually interesting to look at. Presley's performance was not. Go to Full Review Peter Canavese Groucho Reviews Aug 16, 2010

He's still a dynamic performer but you can already see that he's packing on weight... and at times he seems to be simply falling into familiar rhythms. Go to Full Review John J. Puccio Movie Metropolis Jul 31, 2010

Lee S Aug 19, 2025 We just came back from Graceland to celebrate Elvis Week. As extensive as the tours were, this film enhanced our experience, We weren't an Elvis fan until we visited Graceland and since viewing this film we are fans, The film was a bit dated, hence the reason for not giving it 5 stars. See more Tyler S @tylerking24 Jan 25, 2025 I mean, it's not one of your average documentaries, but showcases some of Elvis's talents in his final few years. Wish we got to see more behind the scenes footage, but these concerts made up for it. See more Yakking With F @YakkingWithFriends Sep 1, 2024 Elvis on Tour is a 1972 American concert film starring Elvis Presley during his fifteen-city spring tour earlier that year. It is written, produced, directed by Pierre Adidge and Robert Abel and released by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM). Following his return to live performances and touring after his acting career, Presley starred in the documentary Elvis: That's the Way It Is with MGM in 1970. Presley's manager, Colonel Tom Parker, then arranged a deal for another documentary film with the studio by early 1972. MGM hired Abel and Adidge, who previously documented Joe Cocker's 1970 tour of the United States. The crew filmed four Presley shows that were later intertwined with interviews. Assisted by Martin Scorsese, it featured the use of split screens. The film was released on November 1, 1972. While it opened to mixed reviews, it became a box-office success. In 1973, Elvis on Tour won the award for Best Documentary Film at the 30th Golden Globe Awards. i have a box set called ELVIS ON TOUR 6cds and blu ray See more May 29, 2022 Elvis just takes the stage and he owns it!
